Bolton Stands up to Islamaphobia Event April 3rd 2018

event1We are many – They are few!

Last night saw an event  in Bolton held directly in answer to the outrageous hash tag campaign  ‘ Punish a Muslim Day’

Organised by Unite Against Facism, Bolton Trades Council, BCOM and other organisations,  the event at the STEPS centre saw over 70 people attending to ‘Stand Up to Islamaphobia’

Local councillors including Linda Thomas and local MP Yasmin Qureshi attended and spoke alongside Neil McAlister ( pictured) chair of Bolton Trades Council.

Bolton has always been a town that welcomes people from other countries from the days of the Flemish and Huguenot weavers fleeing religious persecution in Europe and from the generations of Irish Settlers who built our canals and railways to settlers from the Windrush to more recently  hard working peoples from Pakistan and India who built businesses and worked hard within the NHS and last night showed that the people of Bolton from unions, faith groups and community groups and people of none aren’t willing to put up with or enteratin the notion that some people tried to publicise and make mainstream….

More events will follow and we will publicise them via this website and social media
