October Update

It’s been a very busy month for GMB Bolton 23 branch…..

The month began with a trip to Birmingham to remind the Tory Party conference that Enough is Enough and We Demand Better !

October sees the annual Show Racism the Red Card Day / Wear Red  Day and Stop Hate UK’s Hate Crime Awareness Week that we were proud to support  .

We also attended and  supported the launch of ‘The Walk In’ a book by Matt Collins that is currently being televised on a Monday evening featuring Stephen Graham which was supported by our GMB North West and Irish Region.

We’ve been showing solidarity with GMB members at Jacobs, Polyflor and Usdaw locally along with supporting CWU members taking industrial action to protect their rights at work and to secure a decent pay deal as the government concentrates on picking yet another cabinet for yet another Prime Minister who seems to be making more u-turns than a  clown on a fairground ride.

Alongside this we’ve attended the GMB NWI Regional Womens Conference , NW TUC Health & Safety Conference in Liverpool and TUC Congress in Brighton.

You should have received notification by text or Local Govt Update that GMB members in schools and local govt have voted to accept the pay offer,  and more information will follow after Joint Unions ( GMB, Unison and Unite) meet on November 1st.

If you would like to get more involved in branch activities or talk about becoming a GMB rep then get in touch.
